Fameless
https://fameless.net
An uncensored, unmoderated, pro-free-speech, and anonymous social network. Using Fameless, you can communicate your thoughts, opinions, questions, and ideas with the world while keeping your identity anonymous, and without fear of being censored. On Fameless, everyone is equal.
Below, we outline some of our core beliefs, which led to the creation of Fameless, and give you a greater understanding of why the platform exists, how it fits in the world, and how it operates.
Anonymity is one of the most distinguishing features of Fameless. Every post, like, comment, reaction and share is completely anonymous and only visible to you. We chose to make Fameless anonymous so that users can freely share their thoughts, opinions, questions, and ideas without fear of personal attacks or repercussions.
Anonymity isn't always a great thing; in many cases, it can be detrimental to a community. We understand this. However, we believe anonymity has the potential to bring an element of honesty to the table, honesty that may not be present if users were required to disclose their identity.
Think of Fameless as a community notice board. Anyone has the ability to share, but there is no requirement to disclose your identity.
Fameless is a social platform that is unmoderated. There is no way for other users or Fameless personnel to censor, shadowban, ban, block, or deactivate accounts or content posted on Fameless. It will remain this way.
We believe that moderation creates “content dictators” who have the capability of controlling narratives through censorship and shadowbanning. We view moderation as a potential step towards elitism, which may result in the exclusion of individuals with opposing viewpoints. Simply put, we believe that moderation creates a culture where “out-of-the-box” thinkers are penalized for their views and opinions.
Another issue with moderated platforms is the lack of transparency in content moderation practices, such as removing, shadowbanning, or blocking users or content without notification. At Fameless, we will never engage in these practices. We strongly disagree with and are appalled by the lack of transparency and respect shown toward users by companies that do partake in these practices.
We believe that everybody should have the freedom to say what they want and express themselves freely. We understand that free speech can create problems, but we also believe that the problems it creates are much more preferable to the problems created by censored speech.
In the United States, freedom of speech is a constitutional right. Although private companies have the ability to interfere with this right to an extent (and many social media companies have), we believe that it is right for Fameless to uphold this fundamental right throughout its platform.
Censorship is a significant issue in today's society, particularly on social media platforms. These platforms often censor content they consider inappropriate, incorrect, or offensive, leading to a reduction in the diversity of opinions and creating a culture of fear among users.
While censorship is often justified in the name of safety, with platforms claiming it is necessary to protect users from harmful or offensive material, it can also be used to silence dissenting opinions and promote specific narratives. Even when done with good intentions, social media companies, comprised of humans who are prone to mistakes, can make errors in judgment. By censoring content, these companies take an Orwellian stance of curating information for the public, which can be a dangerous approach.
At Fameless, we believe that no one should have the power to silence others, regardless of their status or expertise. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard. Therefore, Fameless does not, and will not, engage in the censorship of content or users.
Instead, we provide features that allow users to hide content they may find offensive or inappropriate. These controls are entirely in the hands of the users, not moderators or Fameless personnel.
We've all seen instances where a celebrity posts something on social media—perhaps a politically charged statement or a strong opinion on a current issue. Often, people start to adopt these beliefs simply because they come from someone famous.
This is one of the reasons we created Fameless. As the name suggests, no one is famous on this platform. You could be conversing with anyone from the President of the United States to a barista at your local coffee shop.
Our focus is on the content, not the identity. Our value is in the message, not the messenger.
We do not condone offensive content and recognize that people can feel offended, upset, triggered, or hurt by things others say or post.
Many social media companies have taken the stance of removing offensive content to protect users from potential harm. We do not believe this is the right approach. We believe that the issue of being respectful with one another is the responsibility of the individual, not a governing body.
We encourage users to post thoughtfully and treat others with respect when using Fameless.
We also ask you to take into consideration that this is an uncensored platform. If you are one who is easily offended, upset, triggered, or hurt by things others say or post, perhaps another social media platform may be a better option for you.
Misinformation and disinformation is inevitable. It is a part of life. We encourage everyone to do their own research, discuss issues with peers and use their intuition to decide what is true and what is false. Again, we believe this responsibility lies with the individual, instead of relying on the powerful elite to spoon-feed people with a curated selection of "correct" information.
